BYOD is up and running. All the students are connected to my Google Classroom and should be able to show you how to get there from a home computer. If you are going to send in a device please be sure you have returned the pink BYOD contract form and these suggested links:
Brainpop, Seesaw, Xtra math, Google Classroom, mobymax, epic, readworks.
SEESAW~ This year we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of class.
Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/035-545-415 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds.
Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Family app for iPhone or Android, or access your child's journal on the web.
Just a reminder that Fall Picture Money is due by August 8th and Scholastic book orders are due by Friday August 11th. Early release is August 18th.
The first week went fantastic. I think our favorite activity was Saving Fred. Pictures are below. The partners had to figure out how to get a life preserver (gummy lifesaver) onto Fred (gummy worm). He was stuck on top of the boat (cup). Oh and they could only use paper clips.
Happy Summer Break! I can't wait to meet you and start school on July 10, 2017. Bring your smiles and love for learning!
Here are a few updates. Boosterthon fun run will be on Wednesday 4/26 at 8:45am in the front field. Your student will receive their shirts Wednesday AM. Please be sure they wear their PE shoes that day. If your student gets any new pledge tonight they are allowed to wear PJ tomorrow. This can be as small as $1. Also we are close to sweet treat day for the class. Donate if you can!
Dancefest will be on Friday 4/28 on the K-2 playground at 8:45am. It will last approximately 1 hour. Your child needs to wear PE shoes and a towel to sit on outside. If you are coming to watch please bring a chair to sit on.
Lastly the third grade will have Enterprise Day on May 11. Enterprise Day is a grade wide activity that pairs with our economics unit. Each student/partner group will work together to design, make and sell products to each other. The students will have the opportunity to make "money" for the next 2 weeks that they will use towards buying other products and setting up a booth to sell their product. Over the coming weeks your student will need to gather supplies and bring them into school in order to work on their product. They are allowed to work with partners after school as well. Their product can't be candy or weapons or store bought. Parents are encouraged to attend and will be given a small amount of "school money" to spend on various favorite products.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Tomorrow is our field trip to Publix. We will leave about 9:30 and return around 11:30. The students will eat lunch once we return so please make sure they have breakfast since we will be eating later than usual.
Be sure to register and donate at funrun.com. Just for registering each student get a bracelet.
If you weren't able to sign up for a conference last week and want to come in, let me know. I will find a time to meet with you.
Homework will be sent home today. They must do it all by Friday PLUS read 20 minutes and practice multiplication facts. With EOG testing coming up we have lots to practice before May.
Have a great week,
Reminder that this week is our 3rd grade music program on April 12 at 8:40 am in the gym. The second grade will perform first and it should be finished at 9:20am. I will plan to video as much as I can and post it on Seesaw for those of you that can't make it.
Also this week is a four day week. We have no school on Friday. Enjoy your 3 day weekend!!

I will be sharing the results once I receive them.

Next week we will move to fractions on a number line, comparing and equivalent fractions. The best part we will use skittles, M&M's and Hersheys to review.

In Reading we finished reading Chocolate Fever and Chocolate Touch. This is just the beginning of our reading and exploring all things chocolate and sweet. Next week we will read the Dawn of the Doughnut.
In Science we are starting landforms. We will explore various landforms found in the world. Deltas, islands, pennisula, mountains, etc...
Tuesday is Valentine's Day. Everything we do will be Valentine's Day related. Conversation Hearts and Hershey bar fractions, Valentine's Day history and poem writing. Be sure to send in the Valentine's Day cards and any treats.
The second week of BYOD was a bit more successful. Guidelines to remember.
1. Device needs to be fully charged.
2. Google classroom, Epic, Quizlet, MobyMax, Seesaw, Middle Creek Elementary shortcuts would be helpful.
Thanks again to Mrs. O'Sullivan for helping with Math and Mrs. Bonnett for stuffing the Friday folders.
At this stage in the game, your child should have been able to complete a simple fact sheet in 1 minute if your child has been consistently practicing their facts, especially the math AIG students!
Your child's sheet will be coming home on Monday with their results.
Multiplication plays a vital role in what's coming ahead in 3rd (fractions), and especially the beginning of the year in 4th grade! We need to move from counting on hands and drawing pictures to mastery.
I really need your help with this matter at home!!!!!
They get some time in school to practice, but with everything else we have to accomplish, it's VERY hard to fit it in!
Please HELP them!
BYOD~ Please make sure your child's device has Google Classroom, Google documents, google drive installed.
Also if their device has a camera please download the QR reader.
