This week was packed full of fun and learning. Valentine's day included Hershey Bar and Candy heart fraction activities. The next day we had an inhouse Science field trip "All about Matter". The students made amazing chocolate ice cream and discussed solids, liquids and gases. We will continue exploring those science terms for the next 2 weeks.
This coming week we will have Case 21 testing. CASE Benchmark Assessments are designed to gauge the academic progress of students and to provide timely feedback that can be used by teachers to guide instruction. It will be graded and used by me to guide instruction in Math and Ela for the 4th quarter. I will be administering these on Wednesday and Tuesday this week. I will be sharing the results once I receive them.
Have a great week!
Did you see the full moon tonight? It just might explain some of the crazy we had in class today. Even with the crazy we were able to accomplish a great deal. In Math, we started exploring Fractions. Next week we will move to fractions on a number line, comparing and equivalent fractions. The best part we will use skittles, M&M's and Hersheys to review.
In Writing we spent the week writing an informative essay. The students will record them using the DOink app and we will post them to Seesaw later next week. Next week they will choose their favorite candy/sweet and write an opinion piece on why they think it's the best candy.
In Reading we finished reading Chocolate Fever and Chocolate Touch. This is just the beginning of our reading and exploring all things chocolate and sweet. Next week we will read the Dawn of the Doughnut.
In Science we are starting landforms. We will explore various landforms found in the world. Deltas, islands, pennisula, mountains, etc...
Tuesday is Valentine's Day. Everything we do will be Valentine's Day related. Conversation Hearts and Hershey bar fractions, Valentine's Day history and poem writing. Be sure to send in the Valentine's Day cards and any treats.
The second week of BYOD was a bit more successful. Guidelines to remember.

At this stage in the game, your child should have been able to complete a simple fact sheet in 1 minute if your child has been consistently practicing their facts, especially the math AIG students!
Your child's sheet will be coming home on Monday with their results.
Multiplication plays a vital role in what's coming ahead in 3rd (fractions), and especially the beginning of the year in 4th grade! We need to move from counting on hands and drawing pictures to mastery.
I really need your help with this matter at home!!!!!
They get some time in school to practice, but with everything else we have to accomplish, it's VERY hard to fit it in!
Please HELP them!
BYOD~ Please make sure your child's device has Google Classroom, Google documents, google drive installed.
